For those of you who may not have been following the Party Poker Million tourney (since it’s not Stars and it’s not going to be on the WPT this year), all I’ve got to say is:
SKOL!
Mike Schneider, aka “schneids” on 2+2, won it all, a cool million. Schneids is from the Twin Cities beatches.

See the press release, quoting:
Currently at the University of Minnesota studying journalism, he is planning to graduate in fall 2006, and has paid for his education through his poker winnings. The native Minnesotan began playing in home games four years ago, and graduated to his hometown card room, Canterbury Park at 18, the legal age in Minnesota. In 2003, he began playing online with PartyPoker.com. The PartyPoker.com Million is only his second high stakes tournament. Wisely, he hopes to put some of his PartyPoker.com winnings into investments, after building up his bankroll a bit and tucking some away for day-to-day expenses.
Schneids gained a lot of noteriety back in 2004 for his ”$60K in 60 days” challenge. I watched him and others donk off huge chips and put the 3/6 pros at Canterbury on mega-tilt back in December, 2004. See my post and Gonores’ report. Good stuff.
Congrats Schneids. Too bad this won’t be on the WPT.
Just some random crap…
I think I’m going to rename this blog, “A Drop Game Blog”.
My poker for the weekend consisted of another bubble play in an SNG after being chipleader for a while. I thought, “A ha! A history for Nerd!” But no, I waited too long and he got too busy. I totally understand though and no hard feelings. Damnit though
Happy Birthday Heather!!! (Yes, I know most of you will see this a day late but I was gone all day.) April, make sure she has fun this week.
Author Scott Sigler started his new “podiobook” on Sunday and it’s off to a promising start. His previous two podiobooks (audio books serialized like a podcast) were, as the kids say, HAWESOME. You can still get “Ancestor”, although the first one (and the better one IMHO), “EarthCore”, is now a paid Podcast ($10 for the whole book). Yes, this sounds like a shill, but the books are good in a “be entertained but don’t have to think much on the commute into work” way, which for me is great. Also check out podiobooks.com for more free audiobooks in podcast format.
Second round draft pick for Duante Culpepper? Wow.
Hard diet week. I was down at the corporate headquarters on Tuesday for a meeting and they brought in 7 large pizzas for like 10 people. It was great, a local joint, one of those that the locals rave about. I ate way too much
Forza Ferrari!! Schumacher takes second and looked, well I hate to say it but…HAWESOME. A little mix up in qualifying (despite getting pole) and he probably would have won it. Great race by Kimi (22nd to 3rd? WTF?) and 39 passes. It was the most overtaking in a non-rain or non-safety car race since 1996 or so. The V8s sure have changed things. Looks to be a great season.
I’m sitting here at home, and in a very un-Professional Poker Player™ way, not playing poker. I am, however, looking at the NASCAR schedule (while doing my fantasy NASCAR) and notice that the boys will be in Las Vegas this weekend. Damn, could it get better than that? Well, yes, if Formula 1 went back. Or Champ Car. But since they’re not going to, we’ll settle for NASCAR in Sin City.
The upside to not being in Vegas is that the weather here is finally starting to break a bit. Mid-30s is common now and we actually had rain on Tuesday. It’s about time.
Drop Game Guy continues to be my nemesis.
TV right now is hawesome. Princess, since you’re Internet free now and watching TV, here are some pointers:
Thank God for BitTorrent
There is much talk about who the evil people in the world are or have been. There is, however, one nameless person who is quite possibly more evil than most.
Those on #wpbt know him well. Much is ill is spoken of him. Words that cannot be reprinted in this family blog. He causes more lost workplace productivity than Iggy could ever conceive of. He is infectious. I made the mistake of showing him to my wife and I have not heard from her since.
Now is the time for the rest of the world to be exposed to pure unadultered evil. I give you, Drop Game Guy.

Stay away, stay far away.
