Read Pauly!

The best poker reporter, and live blogger extrodinaire, Pauly is out about to live blog the LA Poker Classic. You should read him. He is by far and away the most entertaining poker reporter there is.

Tao of Poker

OK, I know the cool kids play mainly at other places, and I play at other sites such as Stars and the sentimental favorite, Full Tilt, but many still play at Party. One of the big complaints about Party is their software. Today, however, they released a major upgrade. Could Party finally be getting it? A couple features:

  • Resizable tables
  • SNGs – Starting chips go from T800 to T2000! The levels are now time based (10 mins) instead of hand based. This finally brings the Party SNGs to a level of the other major sites.
  • Evidently the end of data mining

Read about it at Party upgrades.

Thanks to April for the push to post. :)

On that note, I’ve played zero poker since Sunday. I’m on a great streak of 0-8 ITM in SNGs. Joy. This new structure will make things intersting though. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to play this weekend for a bit and try it out.

More Pro Poker Advice

Wednesday, February 8th, 2006

As you can tell, I’ve basically been following Felicia’s advice of: “you’re boring, so don’t post stuff just to post it.”

I played poker for the first time in a week last night. Results: Not so good. Well, that’s a little deceiving. After chatting with Bobby Bracelet a bit, I thought I’d give the $30 SNGs a whirl.

The upside is that I definitely didn’t feel outplayed. Of course, I got 5th in the two I played, so there a couple things going on there. First of is obviously sample size. The second is that I didn’t get to the money, so I didn’t get against the “better” players. There really wasn’t much difference between the 20s and the 30s as far as I could tell, at least not yet.

Of course, I was also tired as hell, which was not a good time to be playing. How tired was I?

I fell asleep between a hand.

I am suddenly hearing Party’s loud buzz/beep thing telling me I’m about to run out of time and realize I had fallen asleep. Oy. It was a SNG though, so I couldn’t just quit. I outlasted a couple more people, but surprisingly made a couple mistakes and busted 5th.

So here’s some more advice from a Professional Poker Player™: Don’t fall asleep betweens of an SNG.

You’re welcome in advance.
