Hi,
In a tournament where each player pays a set fee that goes to the purse to be split among a number of players, do these players also have to pay for the chips that are given to them at the table at the onset of each game. Do they also have to pay for the ante when the time arrives ? I have read 3 books now and have not found the clear answer to this. I have been playing home game for 6 months now. We each pay an amount as a purse to be split in a proportion for 1st and 2nd but we do not pay for the chips that we distribute to each player at the onset of the game. Is that the way it works in a tournament as they move towards the final table ???
I believe in a casino game, each chip is not symbolic but represent your own money ???
Have I got it right ???
Many thanks,
Lou
ps if you could reply at my above e-mail address I would appreciate it very much. Thks.

Nice review of the video, if you would have written another two or three pages I might not of even had to buy the video :). We'll see if the next couple days of poker provide some spending cash for the video. Always enjoy the blog. Sorry for the double post

Well, the concept still stands in a ring game I would think. The concept is that it takes a stronger hand to call a raise than to make a raise. That still applies in NL ring games. It may not apply in totally the same way, but it calling a raise with a “decent” hand is different than open raising with the same, even in a ring game.

The big thing in a ring game is that you can rebuy, therefore it may not apply in totally the same way.

Maybe I’m wrong though, it wouldn’t be the first time that I’m off base regarding strategy :)

*puzzled* i thought the gap concept ONLY referred to tournaments. nice review though, if i had $25 lyin around I'd probably buy it, but I wasted all my spending money on a comfy ass recliner.
