Poker
Oh poker gods, what have I done?
In other words: the carnage coninues. Wednesday night I played one table at Party and one at Prima for a change of pace. I busted at my Party table when my nut flush lost to a straight flush. Yes, it crossed my mind, but can you ever really give credit to a straight flush? Especially a straight flush using both hole cards. I mean, sure, it happens, but it’s so rare that I don’t think you can necessarily put anybody on it.
I jumped over to Prima for a change of pace. Was down $10 there on Wednesday, up $20 Thursday, so nothing too exciting. I just need something different, so I may be playing there (or other places) for a bit. It’s pretty slick that Prima hand histories can now be imported directly into Poker Tracker, it’s much easier to see my losses now.
Due to my recent downswing, I may be hitting up the Cryptos for the first time in a couple of months. Right now, any extra money sounds good.
WSOP Circuit
This week’s episdoe was kind of interesting. The heads up between UlitmateBet’s 25/50 NL killer Prahlad “Spirit Rock/Mahatma” Friedman vs Chris “Jesus” Ferguson had a couple good hands. In particular Ferguson’s quad aces against Friedman’s full house. How do you not go bust there? Was it a weak “online” play on Friedman’s part or did he really think that Ferguson had the case ace?
The flip side to these shows is that they are basically like Poker Superstars II, ie. all ins all the time. The one hour shows just aren’t enough to show enough play. I think they showed one Ferguson hand the whole time until they got heads up. Pretty bad.
Home Improvement
We give up. We’re hiring out the “construction” part of the bathroom. It’s not that much and we know somebody who can do it for cheap. This has the side effect of it actually being done correctly as opposed to if I were involved. Now all I have to do is write a check or two and I’m done.
Vacation
My week of doing nothing has turned into exactly that. I’ve watched a ton of my favorite show of all time, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and some DS9 too. It’s been great. I’m not good at doing nothing on a vacation, I think I should “do” something (keep in mind, I have zero problem doing nothing on a weekend) while on vacation.
I’ve finished my homework for this week and next week. Now I can work on my final project and get ahead a bit.

The Jesus/Friedman hand was amazing. When the King hit I was pretty sure he was going to go bust, but he had a good read on Jesus, you could see it all the way, he suspected the Ace from the flop. I don’t think it was weak to call at that point, on the other hand, he was so low on chips, you could probably argue that he has to move in there anyway.
Good episode anyway.

Sadly, I have thought about hitting up the Cryptos as well. Make sure you read up on Interpoker’s new requirements… less hands, but bigger rake needed to “count” as a raked hand.

At the Cryptos the best way to do it is in the casino. It’s free money, you can play with just the bonus.

“How do you not go bust there? Was it a weak “online†play on Friedman’s part or did he really think that Ferguson had the case ace?”
There’s no reason for him to do anything more than call there.
Lets look at his options..
Fold? - Nope
Raise? - Pointless
-At best Jesus has a K, and they split
-At worst.. he’s got the A and that’s all she wrote
Call? - Best option .. there’s almost 0 chance he has Jesus beat
but a good chance he’ll split the chips already in.

I couldn’t believe that friedman didn’t get knocked out on that hand, it was a pretty solid read and it was probably a hand that the majority of players are packin up on and going home. I always enjoy reading your blog, you can check out my blog at
