Poker

I have hit the ass end of variance over the last few days. It started the night that I lost my stack as described in my previous couple of posts. I basically had the same thing happen again on Saturday. It was a bit different, but the end result was basically the same.

I’m pretty sure my pattern map is outdated.

Cats

We got a new cat over the weekend in hopes of it helping my wife move on. It’s a one year old from the local humane society and is full of energy. So far it has got along with our other cat and dog which is good considering she’s still got her front claws. At least for another day or so :)

Oh, and my son got a chameleon last week. Joy of joys.

Vacation

I’m taking the week off. No plans on going anywhere though, just hanging out. My wife is taking it off too, so that should be good. Even after this week I’ll still be owed vacation that I’ve “taken” in addition to the new days I am earning. Nice problem to have I guess, but I’ll have to figure out something to do other than “supervising” the installer of the new storm door I just bought.

Cars

More car excitement here at Chez Halverson. I’ll save the full report for when the final drama is played out.

Phil Gordon

I promise I’ll get my review of Final Table Poker DVD out shortly. I have a couple things to touch up and then it’ll be there. You should really buy the Final Table Poker DVD, it’s good.

I realize this won’t change your mind (and that’s okay) but declawing a cat is the equivalent of cutting a human finger off at the first joint. Sorry to be a downer but most people just don’t realize how traumatic a surgery it is. I do understand (sort of) the motivation behind it though.

Have fun on your week off and I’ll put in a good word for you with the poker gods about getting the luck to turn in your favor.

Just what you need, more car drama.

Is Phil Gordon always kind of funny?

On cats: I have two declawed cats. While it was very difficult to do (especially the first time), since they are both exclusively indoor, I highly endorse it.

The most important thing is that you saved the life of another unwanted animal. Kudos.

And April: You are such a kind heart….it’s wonderful. Don’t change a thing! ;)

I have an idea on what do to do Thursday night…

April: I do kind of realize what declawing does, however I have another cat, a dog and a house full of furniture. We’ve always declawed our cats and while it’s a tough couple of days, they seem to get over it just fine. They’re exclusively indoor so they don’t need them and if the cats get to fighting for “who’s boss”, I want them both on even ground.

Easycure: Yes, Phil Gordon is funny in the video. Good stuff.

Yeah, another cat that may have been put down is now in a happy home. We didn’t even look at kittens, we wanted one that was a bit older. This one is a bit younger than I thought we’d get, but she’s great.

I don’t declaw my cats (a la April) but to each his own! Just last week, when my boyfriend Randy moved in here, he brought his declawed cat to add to my family of 3 cats with claws. We’ve had no problems so far. My sister in law also has 2 cats with claws and one without, and they’ve been fine for years. Unless you have particularly violent cats, it’s not really a big deal to mix and match the clawed with the clawless.

Post pics of the kitties :)
