MN vs. SC Vegas Smackdown

As some of you may have heard, there’s a little side action (no Pauly, not side boob) at the bloggers tourney in Vegas. I know, shocking. Get a bunch of gamblers together in Vegas and they start side action before it even starts. Very shocking.

Basically, the South Carolina bloggers have challenged the Minnesota bloggers. Maybe we challenged them, but we’re from Minnesota and not prone to go out of our way to talk to others, so I’m guessing it was the SC crew.

Honestly, I’m not sure how it all started, but I think I just got sucked into it somehow. I think drinking was involved. In fact, given the fact the SC crowd has Otis, BadBlood and CJ, and the MN group includes me, I would have say that drinking on our (MN) part was most definitely involved.

My MTT “experience” is well documented. I placed 2nd in the 2nd ever blogger tourney at True Poker. After that…Well, let’s just say I play in the tourneys for fun.

So the lineup as I think it is, consists of:

Minnesota: Me, Drizz, and Chad and Whiskeytown.

SC: Otis, CJ (both from Up For Poker) and BadBlood.

So, am I missing anybody on either side?

Uh, no offense Drizz and Chad, but we’ve got an uphill climb ahead of us. Whiskey has some good tourney experience, so basically his high finish will average out my low one.

The official line at this time is:

G-Vegas vs. Minnesota, Cage Match: G-Vegas (-130) / Minnesota (+160)

I don’t know anything about sports betting, so I get confused about how to read the line, but I don’t think this is good for us.

Anyway…I’m not even sure what we’re playing for. Any ideas? Also, how is this calculated? See how I think I got suckered into this :)

Even so, I can’t wait…

The “Real SC” will take all you out and lay odds as well. West Side! Bring it on…

  2. CJ Says:

It’s actually worse for you than you think. I’m only techincally SC… so you might want to replace me with G-Rob. That’s probably good for MN. But then you have to add GameCock (WPBT online event winner) and Wes the Big Pirate (WSOP Satellite winner). It starts to get a little ugly for Minnesota. Sorry.

  3. Chris Halverson Says:

HD: Ya, no doubt. You guys would destroy us too, of course, you’ve got bigger numbers, so you should win… :)

CJ: Great. Just freaking great. Of course, I’m lumping Whiskeytown in here and he probably has no idea that I’m doing so, so hopefully he won’t be pissed :) He’s my big hope.

Who started all this? They most definitely owe me a drink…

  4. BadBlood Says:

I think me and Chad started it. Regardless, I will buy you that drink, among others.

SC: BadBlood, Otis, G-Rob, CJ-by proxy, Big Pirate
    MN: CDH, Drizz, Chad, Whiskeytown

$10/head, last longer in the Aladdin Classic

  5. Chris Halverson Says:

BB: Cool. I’m up for that.

I’m just glad I wasn’t involved in the setup, because if I had been I’d be missing a big chunk of time somewhere and I don’t drink _that_ much :)

    Man, I can’t wait…

  6. Drizztdj Says:

I did take 2nd at the 2nd Annual Grublog Classic… /flex Now I’ll crawl back into my hole.

I think a good prop bet would be “Will Drizz actually win a coin flip during the tourney?”

I see the SC boys going down from New York Yankees like overconfidence. They will lose and lose badly while we sit there with our farmer tans and smile with the Minnesota nice we’re known for.

    SKOL VIKINGS LETS GO!!!

  7. Chris Halverson Says:

Drizz: Hehe…I agree. See, I’ll just sit back here and play down our chances. All the while pumping them up, letting them think they can cruise to the win and in the end our paleness blinds them to the fact that they’re getting their asses kicked.

It’s all about playing the players. The cards don’t matter when you’re at the level we’re at…

  8. Chad Says:

Chris: It’s all about playing the players, but I might as well warn you that I won’t be playing the players OR the cards until about level two. 10am is EARLY! Even if I happen to make it on time, I highly doubt I’ll be ready to play until I’ve shot the 5th cup of coffee directly into my vein. =)

It is my sad, sad regret to inform the MN bloggers that because I was stuck on the waiting list till a week or two ago, I didn’t take the appropriate steps to book a flight/schedule a day off to come to the WPBT in a week - I didn’t wanna take a day off work, cough up 200 for a hotel room, and not get in the tourney -

I have given assurances that I will plan ahead better for the next one when it comes - but this one slipped by me.

Remind South Carolina how we kicked their ass in the Civil War - that’ll put them on tilt…

Knock the team “requirements” down to pairs and the Washington State team of Scott Bush and Easycure would probably participate, uh, after I talk to Scott about it……heh.

    change of plans…

due to constant needling by Felicia and your faith in me, I’m coming to Vegas to play -

I’ll arrive about 45-50 min. after it starts - asked CJ and Felicia to make sure they buy my seat and don’t let my chips get pulled - or else I’ll be a terribly sad, out $600 bucks camper

    so let’s rock and roll

    WT: Whoo hoo!!

  13. G-Rob Says:

I suspect some sort of Vikings-like performance….start strong…lead for awhile and then total collapse.

    SC will win.

  14. whiskeytown Says:

We have two things going for us that the Vikings don’t however -

We are not and have never been coached by Dennis Green or Mike Tice -

    that’s a big advantage - :)

Chris - you and the MN contingent need to make me a sign saying “Whiskeytown’s Seat - ETA 10:45″ - make sure the SC guys don’t let them pull my chips from the table - I think Felicia will make sure they don’t pull my chips after 15 min or seat an alternate there…

if it goes as slow as most Aladdin Tourneys the first hr, I should be in there with no less then 5% of my stack gone - hell, I’d probably lose more if I was playing.
