Pacific Poker Mods
Now that the WPBT IV tourney is back on (Sunday, 2004-08-29, 9PM Eastern), you may want to spiff up Pacific’s interface to be easier to see and have better graphics. Go see Chip Litre’s Poker Mods. It won’t take away the “honk”, but it will make it look better. He also has a “no chairs” option for Party and Empire. It removes a lot of the clutter from the tables which can really help if you multitable. This is even better than the “no avatars” option.
You can also check out Poker Software for modified Party tables with odds built right in and replacements for the “Congratulations” banner.

Thanks for the tips. I wish Pacific would add a 4 color deck.
The only reason I keep playing Pacific is the 5 handed SnG’s. Most players seem to use normal 10 handed starting requirements, or any 2 cards will do. Playing here helps me adjust my 10 handed SnG at Party when I need to start being aggressive in the 3rd/4th round.

hhmmm. shoulda added this before I hit post.
Out of all the poker sites out there, who has the best tournament structure?
What sort of structure would you like to see?

I honestly don’t play that many tournaments, so I’m probably not the best person to ask. Outside of the blogger ones (including Felicia’s PJK ones), I’ve probably only played a dozen or so. Total. Ever.

These mods make Pacific actually playable. Muchos gracias.

You can also use the sounds from Party and copy them over the clinky Pacific sounds. It’s not all that better, but even a little bit helps.

Chris,
Thanks for the publicity. I am working on a 4-color deck mod for Pacific, should be up on my site soon.

The honk sound is located at x:\program files\pacificpoker\poker\media\timerpinglong.wav
Replace it with whatever you want.
I personally think UB has the best tournament structure.

I’m going to work on an alternate table too. A simple brightness/contrast mod to it should make the game seem less dark.

A four color deck at Pacific would rock.
Thanks for all the other hints too!

Good stuff, I’m definitely loading the Pacific skin in tonight. Get rid of those 1960’s chess-set looking queens and kings.
And I want that DVD, dude. They never showed the Plaza tournament at regular times here, so I got like half an episode here, 10 minutes there. Be very afraid if I’m at your table, because my chips are a-gonna be moving.
