After suffering through a couple of down sessions while trying out 2/4 last week I had to drop back down to 1/2 and 50/1. This was because I tried to do 2/4 with a woefully short bankroll. I knew I had some cash coming from casino whoring, so I decided to give it a shot. Read last weeks entries for my feelings on this. When I went back down, my losing sessions continued. This was not good as my roll was shrinking fast and the casinos were taking their own sweet time cashing me out. This led me to a week of contemplation about poker and really no playing, which is unfortunate because I was in between quarters for school (it starts up again on July 6). Finally, the two casinos came through and Neteller was flush with cash awaiting my final whoring, but with enough left over to drop in a decent enough amount to fund Party to a level where I can handle a couple losing sessions at 2/4 if need be until I cashout the big amount from the final casino.
Hopefully that may not be an issue.
Friday night at 2/4 was wonderful. I played hard, pumping my good hands and had a wonderful session. I ended up +26BB. Not my biggest win in terms of BB, but basically ties my largest in terms of dollar amount, which is kinda cool. It was kind of different though. I’m nowhere near as good as most of you out there, but after I won a few hands, the table texture totally changed. I’ve never seen that before due to my actions. The table tightened up considerably and if I raised (as I was prone to do with strong hands), they got some respect. WTF? That’s OK, I took advantage of it and bought a couple of pots (not with total crap, but with second pair or strong draw). I am also only single tabling for now while I get used to the level (and get enough roll), and am trying hard to pay more attention. I am prone to getting distracted if I only play one table, so that’s a challenge for me too. I think losing close to $100 last weekend kind of kicked me a bit and is helping me to stay focused.
Party 2/4 is still terribly fishy. Once again, in the guppy to shark continuim (thanks to
I’m not trying to be session oriented, but I definitely needed a winning session, therefore I cut out a bit early tonight to ensure a big win. I know that stop limits aren’t the best thing, but after a funk, it’s a good feeling to end up big. Some of you may not agree with that, but too bad, it’s my money
I’m going to play in the $5 multi at Party on Saturday morning for some cheap NL practice. I wonder if I outlast
Wow, that kinda rambled, sorry ’bout that. Oh well, I’m having a scotch right now after a good session, so I guess that explains it. The key word in that sentence was “after”. *sigh* What’s the world come to where I’m not having at least one drink while playing?
I find there are fishy players at all levels. I am probably near where you are. Carp or some lowely fish. But it is hard to lose sometimes when people call to the river with 9-2, no pair even made! I was on a bit of a tilt one day, so decided to try and make it up at 5/10 (Ok, Big tilt?). Anyway, people were calling me with A high nothing at the river, and then calling me a jackass for being in with a low pair. Now I realize I was a jackass, but who was the bigger one? I ended up winning back my $100 I was down on my tilt.
Now I find the 1/2 just fine for me. I tend to buy in for like $10, and play it until I lose. I seem to win more often than not. The small buy in assures that I do not chase too much at the beginning, and only play premium hands. Last 4 sessions have been +56, -10, +20, +25. Seems to be working. Have to love those guys calling a pair of 9’s to the river!
The most fun at 1/2 is when people start complaining about your play. No Duh! There is a reason I am playing 1/2 moron! I am not that great at poker. Someone with AKo yelled at me for staying in with 45h. I normally would have bailed on that, but I was up like $40 and it was going to be my last hand, and I was on a roll. So I called him to the river, made my runner-runner flush, and he has the nerve to complain that I stayed in! He never even made a freaking pair! Oh well. Nice Blog. Fun to read. Check mine out if you get a chance. One comment would be nice.. Although I basically do it to sort out my thoughts on my play, it would be nice to be read.
