Since casino whoring is all the rage right now, I thought I’d give you all a little lesson on how it can go and how it is not always a “sure thing”. Remember, you are (generally) playing blackjack, a game that has a distinct house edge.
This is a report on my “trip” to the Lucky Nugget, generally regarded as one of the best online casinos due to nice reload and loyalty bonuses as well as their juicy signup bonus (deposit $50, get $200).
Short version: I went on major tilt while playing blackjack and totally busted out.
Long version: I went ahead and deposited $50 into the Lucky Nugget waited about 24 hours for my bonus to show up. When it did, I dutifully went ahead and setup the autoplay for Vegas Strip Blackjack based on info from 2+2 and from Casino Whores, set it for 5000 hands, which is what was needed to clear the bonus, and watched a movie. It was late, and when the movie was done I checked back on it (admittedly I watched the first 100 hands or so because it was kinda cool) and it was about halfway done. I went to bed and checked on it in the morning.
When I checked balance in the morning I was at $270, or $20 pure profit on top of the $200 bonus. Here’s where it gets bad. I got greedy. I’m looking at it going, “Man, $30 more and I’ve got an even $300″. Additionally, some 2+2 people suggested going over the required number of hand by 10% or so in order to not look like a total whore, some people had been banned from participating in extra bonus programs by doing the absolute minimum.
So I set it for autoplay again with a stop limit of $20. Well, it goes down $20 this time. Hmm…screw that, let’s get it back up quickly, jack the bet up to $5.
Bad move.
Next thing I know I’m down to $100. Then I went on serious tilt and proceeded to blow the rest of it.
Basically, I had a pure profit of $220 and I totally blew it and lost my original $50. Nice job dumbass.
The moral of the story here is that it’s easy to casino whore, but just be happy with the free money, don’t get greedy. If you want to play blackjack, then fine, but if you’re trying to get free money, be happy with what you get and don’t get greedy. Grubby warned us, but I didn’t listen.
Did I mention that you should just be happy with what you get and don’t get greedy? Did I mention you should read Grubby’s article and follow the instructions? DO SO NOW!!!
On the plus side, I have successfully whored at other casinos over the past few days. I did the River Belle, Aces High, Captain Cooks and Casino Kingdom. I did Aces High, Capt. Cooks and Casino Kingdom in British Pounds and have come out ahead in each one.
Why use GBP? The casinos work in “units”. They don’t really care what you sign up with, but you have to determine it ahead of time. So when you sign up, select GBP even if you live in the US. This assumes you use Neteller as it will handle all the conversions for you. Then you deposit, say, 50 pounds into Aces High (equiv to about $93.84) to get their 75 unit bonus. The ads say $75, but it doesn’t matter. Here’s where the magic is. That 75 unit bonus is now pounds. When you cash out, you get pounds, which Neteller changes into dollars which means you get about 1.8 times as many dollars as you would have had you signed up in dollars. This obviously only benefits you if you finish ahead of where you started, ie. you are able to keep some of the bonus, otherwise you lose some on the exchange.
The one thing that I have learned while doing this is that there is a ton of variance in blackjack. Also, bad beats are much more common here than they are in poker. I’ve never seen so many 4 or 5 card 21s before. Yikes.
I’ve had various success at these casinos. My worst run other than busting out was at Casino Kingdom where my 220 unit bonus ended at 83. I then had to add that to my regular 100 deposit and play 2000 hands (or 2000 units worth of betting). I started with 183 and ended with 85.50. That’s right, it went into my original buyin. This can statistically happen, you must be aware of this if you decide to try this. It is risky.
That being said, I have “made” a lot of money. If you decide to do this, you must go to Casino Whores and read the FAQ before you do anything. You must understand what the terms and conditions are before you start anything. You must understand how to collect the bonus as none of them are automatic, you have to go through at least one extra step after you deposit to collect the bonus. Also, make sure to sign up for any loyalty programs even if you do not plan on gambling there in the future as many of them have reload bonuses that you can take advantage of.
DO NOT come back to me saying you lost your money doing this. I didn’t listen to Grubby the first time when he warned us, but now I am warning you too, so that’s two of us. If you screw it up it’s your own damn fault.
Hello,
Thanks for the advice. I’d like to start doing this also. But first, who is Grubby? I googled it but found nothing.
