Plus $100
The wife is busy playing Uru (the next sequel to Myst and Riven) and my son is sick and was either sleeping (thanks to the codeine) or playing Starcraft. What do I do? Sit down, have football on the TV and play poker for 4 hours. How did it go? Well, I came out $75 up for the afternoon! That brings me about $100 for the weekend (at 50/1)! Wow!!!!!
Tonight my wife was tired from working her semi-second (Marshall Fields stock that she took when she was laid off last spring, but keeps now for the discount at Fields and Target) job and getting up at 4am yesterday, then playing Uru until midnight last night, and she has to work tomorrow, so she went to bed at 8:30. So hoping that hdouble’s advice was true (that Sunday night is a fishy night too) I grabbed a glass of scotch and sat down to play. Unfortunately it didn’t prove to be that way for me. I broke even on the one table I stayed at, but after getting disconnected (with Big Slick suited!) and then hopping a couple tables I was down a couple bucks due to the blinds, I didn’t really get beat by anything, but I didn’t really win anything either. The upside was that it didn’t affect my overall total for the weekend and got me some more time at the tables. Right now that is pretty important. I don’t think I played as smart tonight though. I missed out on a number of possible hands due to being too passive. I’d have K8o and fold, then in the end an A high would win with a K on the board. Get pocket sixes in early position, fold, then have another come up on the flop (that’s probably correct though, since I was in early position, right?). Anyway, tonight didn’t go great, but it wasn’t a total loss either. When it’s combined with my great afternoon the day still is great. I’ll take it.
I’m starting to increase my note taking, so hopefully this will be less of an issue (thanks to Iggy for pointing out the 2+2 thread on this subject). At the lower levels there’s so many people coming and going that it’s sometimes hard to keep track of them. For example, I played 300 hands as of 5pm today and there were 70 people who I played against, that’s a lot of turnover. Through this thread I found out what the use of the Poker Tracker “Game Time Window” is used for. Wow! This is powerful! I’m going to change my auto-fetching down quite a bit so that I can get more up to date stats as the game happens. This seems to be very powerful and will hopefully aid in my notetaking and ability to “read” the other people at the table, at least by their habits, in order to improve my odds of winning (anything should help).
NFL wise, my Vikes showed that they have great talent, but zero coaching. WTF were the Cardinals doing playing like that in the last couple of minutes? Of course, the Vikes should have gone for the field goal on their first possession instead of trying for the touchdown. I still cannot believe it though. Start out 6-0 and not even make the playoffs? *sigh* Now the Vikes are really no better than the Bengals, Detroit or LA, except that Minnesota has a team and LA doesn’t
(sorry, hdouble, it still amazes me that LA doesn’t have a team). My interest in football will now wane until the Super Bowl except to hope that Green Bay loses
I’ll still watch it, but I don’t have a vested interest in any particular team so it’s not as much as a draw for me anyway.

The fish are out there on Sunday night Chris! 24K players on Party at 6 PM pacific. Unfortunately I had to entertain the company… Anyway 100 BB in a weekend is unbelievable! Just think, at $15-30 you’d be up 3K for the weekend.
Even at the $5-10 level, there is a ton of turnover. It’s rare that I find more than one player that I’ve played a previous session. There are just so many players on party.
Tice proved himself as a bad coach today. Come on Chris… this is Arizona… no excuses! My team (Oakland) was just plain awful this year, but Arizona??? That’s painful. And I thought the Vikings would be a team to fear in the playoffs. Plenty of talent, no coaching.
So who you got in the Titans-Ravens game??? You gotta watch this one C! Ray Lewis against Stevie Mac!!! NFL action is FANNNNNNNNNNTASTIC!

You’re right, when I saw 20K+ people I knew it was possible. I just didn’t get the right table or something. But like I said, I was about even, so at least I didn’t go down. Now I just need to keep it consistent.
I’m still in shock over the Vikes loss, Tice is an idiot. About the only reason we have him is because he’s getting paid like $600K a year which is something like half as much as the next lowest coach. Red McCombs is trying like crazy to sell the team and doesn’t want to spend much on coaching. We’ve got a ton of talent, so in theory it doesn’t take much coaching. In theory.
I most definitely will watch the playoffs, I’ll be pulling for the NFC, but the AFC has some nice matchups too.

negatory. mebbe in higher limit you can fold 66 in early but NO WAY do you fold in ll. pocket pairs = lucrative.

Iggy I think you’re right. Since I’ve actually been paying more attention to the game, I’ve noticed that a lot of those low pocket pairs turn into something. The bet is cheap enough and there are usually a lot of callers, so it does make sense that it’s worth it. I’ll add that adjustment. Thanks!

I think the rule is that if you can expect 4 or 5 callers, even if you face a raise you’re getting the right odds to flop that third 6. The implied odds go way up because you can be sure people will call your reraises to the river.
